Ethics XXI – 1.5 Contact Hours

The case-in-chief is First Beat Entertainment v. ECC, LLC, Alabama Court of Appeals 2007. What are the possible ethical ramifications of surveying property when it is apparent that the surveyors do not know what they are doing. In other words, is it unethical to perform boundary surveying services if you can’t explain what you did or why you did it? This case involved five surveyors and a section line that had been moving for nearly 40 years until it finally goes to court for an adjudication. The National Society of Professional Surveyor’s (NSPS) “Surveyor’s Creed and Canons” (NSPS Creed) is the barometer for measuring the ethics in the case. This is a 2-Page Letter covering one Appellate Court opinion consisting of 9 pages. Combined with the NSPS Creed, this is a 12-Page document with a 10-Question examination based on the text of the newsletter, the NSPS Creed, and the opinion.
