The case-in-chief, Mari v. Hawkins, California 2012, involves a contract for land surveying services, whereby the land surveyor was to determine the corners and boundaries of the client’s land. “Plaintiff needed an accurate survey of his property in Modesto, California, in order to proceed with plans to develop a strip mall.” The survey, as it turned out, wasn’t accurate and the plaintiff, Mari, suffered $155,134 in damages as a result. The land surveyor only ended up having to pay $50,000 due to the contract language. Read the case and see how that land surveyor saved himself $105,134 in this negligence case.
