Fundamentals of Law for Surveyors, “Identification of Boundaries of Tracts—Responsibility of Surveyors,” is a treatise written in 1939 by Frank Emerson Clark, land surveyor and attorney at law. Clark produced this document contemporaneously with the release of the Second Edition of Clark on Surveying and Boundaries. It contains his writing on the duties and responsibilities of the land surveyor, some basic rules of construction on the interpretation of descriptions of property in deeds, basics of the Rectangular Survey System in the United States, other systems of surveying, highway boundaries, water boundaries, and the fundamental principles of retracing original boundaries.
