Ethics X – 1.5 Contact Hours
The case-in-chief is Whitehall v. Brooks, Tennessee Court of Appeals 2003. The National Society of Professional Surveyor’s (NSPS) “Surveyor’s Creed and Canons” is the barometer for measuring the ethics in the case. What are the ramifications of ignoring your client’s deed and surveying strictly from a tax map? Are there any ethical considerations? What about legal consequences? In this case the surveyor was charged with negligence when the resulting survey created overlaps and diminished the value of the property being sold in accordance with the survey. Read the case and make your own evaluation. This is a 2-Page Letter covering 1 Court Opinion consisting of 6 pages. Along with a copy of the Creed and Canons, this is a 9-Page document with a 10-Question examination based on the text of the newsletter, the Creed and Canons, and the case-in-chief.
