Rules of Construction I – 1.5 Contact Hours

The case-in-chief is Rhinehold v. Renne, Washington Supreme Court 2021. The “Rules of Construction” are the rules for interpreting written documents that the courts in this country, and in England before that, have laid down for centuries if not a 1,000 years. The rules apply to the interpretation of contracts, deeds, legal descriptions in deeds, affidavits, legislation—virtually any written document. The rules of construction are generally brought into play when the words used in the document, or the surrounding circumstances, create ambiguities, uncertainties, confusion or conflict. In this case, the confusion was over the meaning of the terms “street” and “road-way.” Join us for an interesting discussion on the interpretation of these terms. This is a 2-Page Letter covering 1 Court Opinion consisting of 12 pages. This 14-Page document has a 10-Question examination based on the text of the newsletter and the attached case.
