Description

Principles & Practice III – 1.5 Contact Hours
The Principles & Practice series is a focus on the fundamental principles of land surveying and how those principles impact land surveying practice. The case-in-chief for this edition is Commonwealth Land Title v. Conklin Associates, New Jersey Superior Court, 1977. This case involves a surveying company that erroneously located an exterior boundary of a subdivision plat, whereupon the title company that insured the survey by removing the ‘survey exception’ had to pay damages to affected property owners because the survey was ultimately ‘inaccurate.’ This edition deals with the concept of ‘survey coverage,’ the policing mechanisms of the land surveying profession, and other principles affecting the practice of land surveying. This is a 2-Page Letter covering one Court Opinion consisting of 6 pages. Altogether, this is a 8-Page document with a 10-Question examination based on the text of the newsletter and the case-in-chief.

OBJECTIVES: To enhance professional competency and improve practitioner’s knowledge of the law as it relates to the practice of land surveying.
