All Alabama surveyors are required to earn 1.0 PDH in Ethics every year, before license renewal. All Alabama surveyors are required to earn a minimum of 4.0 PDH in the “Standards of Practice for Surveying in the State of Alabama” every two years, before license renewal. The renewal cycle in Alabama is every two years, with licenses expiring at the end of every odd-numbered year (e.g., 2019, 2021, etc.). Description
Alabama Code of Ethics – 2.0 Contact Hours
The purpose of this program is to provide a correspondence course of study that delivers 2.0 Professional Development Hours (2.0 PDH’s) in the study of Ethics from Chapter 330-X-14., et. seq. “Professional Conduct (Code of Ethics),” of the Alabama Administrative Code (hereinafter the “Alabama Code of Ethics”), promulgated by the Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (the “Board”), as of 2019. This 19-Page document contains the Alabama Code of Ethics, with commentary by Jeffery N. Lucas, Professional Land Surveyors and Attorney at law. This course is accompanied by a 20-question course examination. A certificate of completion for this course will be awarded upon successful completion of the examination provided. Successful completion requires a score of 70% or better on the examination. Questions, comments and test results can be forwarded as indicated below.
Alabama Standards of Practice – 4.0 Contacts Hours
The purpose of this program is to provide a correspondence course of study that delivers 4.0 Professional Development Hours (4.0 PDH’s) in the study of the “Standards of Practice for Surveying in the State of Alabama” (the “Standards of Practice” or “SOP”) promulgated by the Alabama Society of Professional Land Surveyors (ASPLS), with an effective date of January 1, 2017. This 43-page document contains: A copy of the Standards of Practice; imbedded commentary to the SOP by Jeffery N. Lucas, Professional Land Surveyor and Attorney at law; case studies to flesh out the principles and practices aspects of the SOP; and a 20-question course examination. A certificate of completion for this course will be provided upon successful completion of the examination provided. Successful completion requires a score of 70% or better on the examination. Questions, comments and test results can be forwarded as indicated below.
